SAMPLES COMING SOON! Proofreading: A quick check for typos. If your writing is already polished and you just want someone to check for any basic mistakes, this is the choice for you. Copy Editing: A more thorough version of proofreading. I will check your grammar, punctuation, spelling, typos, and syntax, making revisions according to standard usage. I will also eliminate obvious redundancy. This option is primarily a technical editing. Structure Editing:
I will ensure that your piece has a logical flow and organization,
that language and tone are consistent throughout, and that (if your
piece is written by more than one author) the piece has a continuity
of voice and tone. I will eliminate
redundancy and "prune" the piece to be sure the work is tight and
easily Style Editing: I will verify that your work adheres to the proper style (MLA, for example). I will double check your citations and formatting to be sure each detail is correct. "Workshopping:" The whole nine yards! This is my most comprehensive editing option. Your piece will undergo copy editing, continuity editing, and (if appropriate) editing for style. You will also receive a one-page written summary of your edits, including such things as suggestions for expansion and reader-reactions to your piece. Web Content Review: Web content reviews include copy-editing and continuity editing. The review will consider whether your website is user/reader-friendly, easily understood, engaging, exciting, and representative of you as a web-author. (Note: this is not an html edit). Typing and Transcription: Do you need your piece typed from its hand-written state? Perhaps you've already had your piece edited, but need it retyped. Send me your work, and I'll type it up for you!
"Electronic" edits occur when (you guessed it) your piece is edited electronically. All electronic edits are done in Microsoft Word with "Track Changes." Track Changes is a great feature: it lets you see exactly what I've changed--and you can either accept one edit at a time as you see fit, or you can accept all changes at once. Pretty nifty, right? If you want, you can receive hard edits when you submit electronically--just let me know. I'll print your piece, write on it, and mail it back to you. Keep in mind that you will receive a printing fee for this option. Any questions about editing types? Email me and let me know! |
