Q: I'm a student - are there any discounts for me?
I don't have a lot of out-of-pocket money.
A: Yes, I do offer
students a discount. Please contact
me for full information on student discounts!
Q: When
do I get my work back? A: I edit pieces in the order they
arrive, so make sure you allow processing time on your piece before you
need it returned. If you are concerned about time, you can request a time
estimate on your piece. Generally, the turn-around time is one or
two business days from the time I receive your piece. Also, keep in
mind that you will not receive your edited piece until I receive your
payment. See the
Rates page for more information on
payment.
Q: Do you do rush
edits? In other words, if I need my piece back ASAP, can you do my
edits right away? A: Yes. I can do rush edits (or "in a hurry edits" as one person
said). Email me for details.
Q: Do you prefer electronic or mail
submissions? A: Either one is fine. Electronic submissions
will be processed faster, simply because I receive them
faster.
Q: Can you email my completed piece back to
me? A: Yes, I can! When you submit electronically, I do your
edits on Microsoft Word with "Track Changes." I'll email your file
back to you, and you'll be able to see all of your edits through
Microsoft Word. Choose to accept only the ones you like or accept
all changes at once. I will include instructions on using Track
Changes for anyone who has not used it before--don't worry, it's
very easy.
Q:
What are the differences between "hard" edits and "electronic" edits? A:
"Hard" edits are basically standard editing. In other words,
I get your piece and write all over it! Hard-copy edits are the stereotypical "red pen" edits. You
will receive hard edits when you submit through the mail.
"Electronic"
edits occur when (you guessed it) your piece is edited
electronically. All electronic edits are done in Microsoft Word with
"Track Changes." Track Changes is a great feature: it lets you
see exactly what I've changed--and you can either accept one edit at
a time as you see fit,
or you can accept all changes at once. Pretty nifty, right?
If you want, you can
receive hard edits when you submit electronically--just let me know.
I'll print your piece, write on it, and mail it back to you. Keep in
mind that you will receive a printing fee for this option.
Any
questions about editing types?
Email me and let me know!
Q: Where are you
located? A: If you are submitting
through the mail, you can request
my
mailing address. Work is accepted from across the country.
Q:
Will you edit screenplays? A: Yes, I will edit
screenplays/scripts, but I will NOT edit for format/style.
Formatting (margin sizes, spacing, etc) varies too greatly from
institute to institute for me to adequately tackle this obstacle.
Q: How can I link
to your site? A: I have several banners available for your use. Please
click
here to view them. Always link back to the main page, www.grammar-bites.com.
